Q: Willie, for those not as familiar with soccer what is your position and for that position what is your role on the field?

A: The position I play is an attacking center midfielder. My job is to roam around behind the forwards and get on the ball as much as possible. I am considered the play maker of the team so every play with go through me. I'm given the authority to take the ball myself or play it to another one of my players.

Q: How did your guys season end last year?

A: We had a good season last year with a record of 18-6-5. We were Mission League Champions but we ended up losing in the first round of CIF. The season showed the potential for next years squad because we were only losing 6 seniors. All the underclassmen really showed that they can play.

Q: Being one of the best players on your team and being a senior next year how do you try and be a leader on the field?

A: Being a senior coming into next years soccer season I am expected to be a leader. I try to get everyone involved in everything we do to better be a team as a whole. As being one of the better player the team will listen to what I have to say to better the team. I just try to unite the team as one so we can play the best as we possibly can.

Q: To you, what does being a leader mean?

A: For me being a leader means being able to be a player that the underclassmen can look up to. To be a friend to everyone and have the ability to lead the team through thick and thin.

Q: What are your goals for the team next year?

A: The goals for our team next year is to first win the Mission League. To do that every player has to be able to buy into the methods and style that we play. If we can do that then we want make a good run to the CIF final.

Q: What are your goals for yourself next year?

A: My personal goals for next year is to be the true leader of the team. Playing the position that I do, I am already the play maker but I want to get more players involved in the attack to score more goals. A goal that our team always puts in is to finish the season with at least 20 wins. A final goal for myself if to finish the season with at least 10 goals. If I can do that then that would be a good season for me.

Q: How has your recruitment process been? What are the top schools currently looking at you?

A: My college recruitment process has been a long work in progress. Most of the colleges that have seen me has been when I'm playing with my Arsenal FC Academy team. It has been a long season with them but I've been able to have UCSD, UCR, and UC San Louis Obispo to look at me.

Q: What have you been doing in the off-season to improve your game

A: When my high school season is over I go to my Arsenal FC Academy team to stay playing all year round. I don't really have a off season because I am constantly playing year round playing tournaments or training for next years season.

Q: What would you consider your strengths as a player?

A: My strengths as a player would be speed and ball control. I have trained very hard to be able to have perfect ball control with both feet and a quick acceleration with the ball. In playing my passing ability has always been one of my strengths, and my powerful left foot shot I think is my greatest natural strength.
